Delay Tiga Kali Mewarnai Kedatangan Mahasiswa Baru Asal Thailand di UIN Jambi


"Pak, pesawat kami delay lagi." Itu adalah pesan ketiga kalinya diterima Pak Ali Ubay, staf kerjasama UIN STS Jambi. Mobil penjemputan yang sudah meluncur ke-arah bandara terpaksa harus putar kembali. Pak Ubay, staf kerjasama akhirnya menunggu di kediaman koordinator Pusat Layanan Kerjasama Internasional (PLKI) Dion Ginanto. 
 
Teh hijau dan cookies menemani waktu tunggu malam itu. Dua mahasiswa baru asal Thailand, Asmah Mading dan Kodir Chehae mengalami penundaan terbang dari bandara Jakarta ke Jambi. Jadwal sebenarnya mereka akan tiba pada sore hari, lalu kemudian mendapatkan delay yang kedua yang seharusnya tiba pukul tujuh malam, hingga akhirnya delay terakhir mendarat pukul 22.17 malam. 

Meski sudah malam, bandara terlihat ramai. Rombongan penjemput jamaah umrah memadati ruang tunggu kedatangan bandara. Pak Ubay sesekali melihat layar televisi melihat penumpang yang mulai menuruni tangga menuju pengambilan bagasi. Sesekali mengintip ke dalam, sesekali duduk di bangku tunggu. Setelah hampir tiga puluh lima menit menunggu, akhirnya yang ditunggu pun tiba. 

Ekspresi kebahagiaan tak dapat terbendung, dengan senyuman lebar pak Ubay dan pak Dion menyambut kedatangan Asmah dan Kodir. Mereka di dampingi mahasiswa Thailand senior yang tengah berkuliah di pasca sarjana Universitas Jambi, kak Firdaus. 

Mobil penjemputan mengarah ke mess pelajaran Thailand di Pattimura, Simpang Rimbo. Ternyata Mess Thailand sudah ramai dipadati mahasiswa Pattani, Thailand baik yang berkuliah di UIN Jambi dan UNJA. Penyambutan meriah dilengkapi dengan Tom Yum hangat, mengiringi obrolan malam itu. 

Koordinator PLKI, Dion Ginanto berharap agar mahasiswa baru dapat betah menimba Ilmu di UIN Jambi. Senada dengan Dion, Ali Ubay menitip pesan kepada mahasiswa lama agar selalu memberikan motivasi dan semangat agar penyesuaian diri mahasiswa baru berjalan dengan baik. 

Kuah Tom Yum yang bersisa sedikit mengakhiri rangkaian penyambutan mahasiswa asal Thailand pagi itu. Tepat pukul 1 dini hari, Dion Ginanto dan Ali Ubay kembali ke rumah masing-masing.

UIN STS Jambi Extends Eid al-Adha Blessings to Overseas Students

JAMBI-  UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin (STS) Jambi distributed sacrificial meat packages to international students on 28 May 2026, marking Eid al-Adha with a gesture of inclusivity. The event took place in front of the former Faculty of Ushuluddin building. The initiative was aimed at allowing foreign students to experience the holiday as they would at home, while extending blessings to the wider university community. Thai students Anwar and Baliya received packages from Vice Rector I, while Malaysian students Adam and Azmi were presented with gifts by Vice Rector II and Vice Rector III.
